Wild Turkey Scare

It's pretty windy where I live and we had this large green ball blow out into the middle of the hay field next to our house. I asked my daughter and son to go out into the field and retrieve a ball.

When Emma went out to get the ball four wild turkeys jumped out in front of her and scared her half to death. She told me she thought she heard something in the woods, and this scared her even more since we had a bear in our woods, and on our lawn not too long ago.

She found a quick solution. She went back to the yard, gave her shoes to Jacob, who had not seen or heard anything, and had him go get the ball.

Talk about throwing your brother under the bus. She was scared of wild animals, and getting eaten by a bear, so she sent her brother... nice

No means NO! Usually

My son Andrew is three years old and does not talk. The other day I went up to the playroom to put on a movie for him. I picked up one movie and he shook his head and made a sound that was a little like, 'no'.

I proceeded to choose a different movie and he grabbed it from me, got off his chair, and put it down on the TV stand. I was a little confused, but thought I had it figured out so I turned on the movie that he placed on the TV stand. He then got down from his chair and left the room.

About fifteen minutes later he was asking for a movie again. We repeated the process: He shook his head excitedly and 'said' something like no for the original movie I showed him. I then showed him two or three other movies. For each of these he took them from me and set them on the TV stand.

Because he answered differently for the first movie, I went ahead and put that one in. When it came on he sat down with his blanket, happy as a clam. (not sure how happy clams are, but we'll just go with it).

So now it all makes sense. Why does Andrew continue to do things, like reaching for a pot of boiling water on the stove, or running out into traffic, or taking his clothing off no matter where we are? Because he thinks mommy and daddy yelling 'NO!' and shaking our heads means, "That's exactly what I want you to do."

This is a section that just has random silly thoughts that come to me from time to time. It is not meant to be taken seriously.
