In this book magic is complicated, and needs a series of elaborate codes, or words to make it work. A man, Blaise, has made several wonderful discoveries, and his most recent experiment was to bring something directly from the magic realm. Unfortunately he did not expect it to come in the form of a beautiful woman.
I liked the magic, and the descriptions. There were some fun sequences, but there were some parts that were unnecessary, and as with most of the other books in this package, it seemed like a small portion of a full story. I like reading books in a series, but I like the books to have endings. The 'end' of this book seems like it's just the end of a chapter. When an author expands out a single story into multiple books with no good ending to each book, and no real dividing point, it is frustrating for me. It reminds me of what Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, and Hobbit have done taking a single book and made it into several movies just to milk the audience. I don't like it.
In the end it wasn't quite enough to interest me in buying the next book, so I guess I have just a small portion of a story, and that's all I can use to judge this book.
3 Stars.
