So this month I'm thinking about the title author. At what point do I feel comfortable with that title?
I went to college and finished a degree, then passed some certification tests and earned a certificate that tells me that I'm a Teacher. At what point am I qualified to be called an author? What do I need to accomplish? If I set the bar too low (as soon as you put pen to paper) then it's not much of an accomplishment at all, and it loses it's significance. But if I set the bar too high, I might never get there.
I'm not really looking for an answer of a specific date or accomplishment, just expressing my own personal rhetorical question. I think in some ways I do qualify for the title and I claim the title from time to time, but when I'm asked what I 'do' I respond that I'm a teacher. I'm confident as a teacher, I've worked to earn that title and I feel like I'm pretty good at it.
Just putting this question out there. I wonder what I will need to accomplish before I confidently call myself an author.
