This book is a standalone book but if you have read the previous book you know that you are following Andi’s story (half-sister to Livi, main character in the 2nd book). Andi comes to university already in love with her long time best friend and neighbor, Damien. He has already been at university for two years and she is excited and hopeful to spend time with him, thinking that maybe, just maybe he will start to see her as more than just a friend. When people see Damien and Andi hug rumors fly and people assume that they are in a relationship. Damien and Andi decide to be in a “fake” relationship to try and catch the eye of someone else (for Damien it’s another girl, for Andi it is to get Damien to actually fall for her). As Andi is challenged and pushed to overcome past hurts she starts to discover who she is and what she really wants.
I thought that this book was cute. I liked Andi’s quirky personality. She did a lot of growth throughout the book, and I also like seeing that in stories. I really liked Noah a lot. He was a great addition to this story. Damien was a good character as well and served a purpose. Carmen was a feisty friend that helped Andi as well. Overall I liked this story just as much as the second one. I really enjoy that it is set in South Africa. I find it fun. I good message that I think YA should read.
I give it 5 out of 5. Clean, fun, cute, quick read!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
