On that note, right now I'm looking for some good YA Fantasy books to read and review, so if there are any authors with arc's or wanting a review done of YA fantasy, please respond in the comments or send me a message. Always happy to give honest reviews.
So on to the IWSG post for today.
Something New
Starting something new for me is always a little difficult. My comfort zone is a place where there are familiar things, places and people. I'm one of the worst people to vacation with because, unless it is a place that I've already been, I can be a bit of a stress ball. It almost seems like I enjoy going to new places better when I'm looking back at the experience, than when I'm actually there.
So anyway, I've been finishing up with the Stones of Power trilogy and now I'm about to hit 50K words on the new book. The challenge for me is that it is SO different than The Stones of Power and that leads to some pretty serious challenges & insecurities for me.
The number one thing I'm concerned about is the audience. Will the fans of Stones of Power enjoy reading something so different? Or on the other hand, will people read this new book, enjoy it, then go back and hate Stones of Power. I don't really know how people will react. I think it's a good story, and I have hopes that it will translate pretty well, but there is always that nervousness, about stepping into the unknown.
With this book I will also be seeking an agent, and/or a new publisher. Which, of course, is a process that in itself attacks all my insecurities. Fortunately I've done that before so I feel like I'm a little better prepared for it this time around.
I guess, to sum things up, I'm a little nervous about what is to come, but I'm also starting to get a little excited too. I'm excited to finish up my current WIC, I'm excited to get positive feedback on it, and I'm excited to release this insecurity of mine into the universe!
