Steelheart is set in a postapocalyptic America where people have special gifts that are somehow connected to an unexplained burst in the sky. People with these gifts, Epics, have taken over and created laws that make them in supreme control, answering to no body.
The one group of people that is fighting back against the Epics is called the Reckoners. They discover the weaknesses of the Epics and kill them.
Steelheart is an Epic who rules ruthlessly in Newcago, and nobody who opposed him ever lived, and nobody alive had ever seen his weakness, except Daniel. As a boy, Daniel witnessed something that nobody else had ever seen, he saw Steelheart bleed.
Daniel joins with the Reckoners as they try to take down the seemingly invincible Steelheart.
The story has a postapocalyptic Mistborn feel to it. A group of people plan and scheme to take down an invincible foe. Sanderson does a masterful job describing a complex world in a concise and clear way while giving us page turning excitement. I can't wait for the sequels.
